NPPC camera club to meet Tuesday
The National Park Photography Club will meet at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Garland County Library on Malvern Avenue. It will hold the first competition of 2018 with the topics of pictorial projected images in color and black and white, and photojournalism images projected or printed in color or black and white. The best of the entries will be sent out for regional competition in March.
There will be a presentation of “Showcase” photographs of
2017 from the Photographic Society of America, of which NPPC is a member. This is a collection of top images from around the world. Anyone interested in good photography is welcome to attend the viewing.
Paul Swepston of Hot Springs, the club’s leader for
2018, has been busy planning club events for his first three months. The first workshop is planned for 9 a.m. to noon Feb. 3 in the library. The topic is “Introduction to Lightroom.” Then on Feb. 10, the club will offer “Photoshop Basics.” Both workshops are open to the public for $20, which includes a one-year membership in NPPC. The viewing is free for members. Those wishing to attend should contact Sharon at NationalParkPC@aol.com as soon as possible.
The regular Feb. 20 meeting will be a “model shoot” with professional backdrops and lighting. The public is welcome. If using a film camera with a PC connection, please bring a PC cord. One of the set-ups will have studio lights to hook up to. On March 10, the group is planning a field trip to Camden during the Daffodil Festival to shoot the flowers, architecture and the crowds.
This club is now entering its second year. Anyone who is familiar with their camera and who understands the basic principles of good photography is welcome to see what this group is all about. Call 501-226-5570 for information about meetings, competitions and upcoming events.
