Darlene M. Reed

Darlene Miller Reed, age 90, of Hot Springs, departed this life Thursday, Jan. 11, 2018, in Flower Mound, Texas.

She was a lifetime resident of Hot Springs and a founding member of Unity Church of God in Christ. She worked as a cosmetologist for over 50 years. In July 2005, she received special recognition from State Sen. Steve Faris for her outstanding service and contributions to the city of Hot Springs through providing housing, food, clothing, transportation, spiritual and emotional support to the senior community and countless others.

Survivors include her children, LaColis (Sharon) Reed Jr. and Michael A. (Mary) Reed, both of Peoria, Ill., Larry E. (Elizabeth) Reed, of Minneapolis, Minn., Deborah Y. Reed, of Dallas, Texas, Dennis L. (Faustina) Reed, of Hayward, Calif., Karen J. Reed, of Atascadero, Calif., Phyllis A. Braggs, of Hot Springs, and Charlotte D. Reed Vidler and husband Robert Vidler, of Flower Mound, Texas; one sister-in-law, Helen Green, of Camden; a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.

Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 18, 2018, at Unity Church of God in Christ,

200 Gardner St. The celebration of life and legacy will be 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 19, 2018, at Union Missionary Baptist Church, 219 Gulpha St., Hot Springs. Burial will follow in Crestview Cemetery.
