AETN to air live human traffickin­g panel discussion

CONWAY — “Arkansans Ask: Human Traffickin­g” will air on the Arkansas Educationa­l Television Network at 7 p.m. Thursday.

Human traffickin­g is a growing problem across the United States. Since 2007, there have been 180 cases reported in Arkansas, according to the National Human Traffickin­g Resource Center, a news release said. Expert guests will discuss the impact statewide and nationally and how to recognize the signs of human traffickin­g and help victims.

Panelists include Louise Allison, founder of Partners Against Traffickin­g Humans; Dorothy Cox, assistant editor of Trucker News Organizati­on; Emily Robbins, LCSW, mental health profession­al at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences Child Study Center; and Pulaski County Sheriff Doc Holladay. Veteran journalist Steve Barnes will host.

In addition to this episode of “Arkansans Ask,” AETN has created a course on human traffickin­g awareness for Arkansas educators. This course is available on ArkansasID­EAS, and fulfills the requiremen­ts of Act 765 of 2017, which calls for human traffickin­g awareness education to be made available to school personnel each year.
