BAUXITE — Bobby Joe Carpenter Sr., age 86, of Bauxite, Ark., passed away Jan. 14, 2018.

He was born on June 8, 1931, in Point Cedar, the son of Charles and Ella Carpenter.

He is preceded in death by his loving wife of 60 years, Helen Carpenter; his father, Charles, birth mother, Ella, who passed when Bobby was 2, and mother, Minnie Carpenter; son, Steven Corey Carpenter; grandson, Alex Carpenter; and siblings Carmen, Clarice, Ruth, Louise, Pauline and David.

Bobby proudly served his country with the United States Army, a Korean War veteran, and honored recipient of the Purple Heart for his valor. He retired after many years as a newspaper pressman. He was of the Christian faith.

Left to cherish his memory are daughter, Beverley Henry (Thomas), of Hot Springs; son, Joey Carpenter (Rhonda), of Hot Springs; son, Scott Carpenter (Toni), of Ocala, Fla.; sisters, Charlene and Georgia; grandchild­ren, Carrie Robertson (Don), Chris Reynolds (Emily), Stephanie Caroselli, Jennifer Fry, Julia Dickinson, Joyce Brown (Troy), James Carpenter (Chandra), Jon Carpenter, Valarie Wasson (Kurt), Ryan Norman, Tyler Carpenter, Cori Carpenter and Keyvius Sampson (Haley); 17 great-grandchild­ren, two great-great-grandchild­ren and two on the way.

The family would like to express their gratitude to special friends Alexandria Alvarez, Candace Young, Martin Simonton, and Duke and Gayle Blackford.

Bobby’s celebratio­n of life will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 20, 2018, in the Davis-Smith Funeral Home chapel, Hot Springs, with the Rev. David Carpenter officiatin­g.

Interment will be at Crestview Cemetery immediatel­y following service.

Pallbearer­s will be Chris Reynolds, James Carpenter, Jon Carpenter, Ryan Norman, Tyler Carpenter and Keyvius Sampson.
