What is God’s will?

-

Dear editor:

What one has to appreciate most about Larry Bauer’s submissions are open-mindedness and humility.

Take Feb. 13: Larry acknowledges he’s “not sure I’m qualified to speak for God” in regard to God’s choice for Donald Trump as president. Larry then admits a dilemma — if God picked Trump, why would he have allowed Obama?

Ever rationalizing, Larry says God’s will was for Obama to weaken the world, so, as he says himself, Trump “would respond with overwhelming counter force and essentially the world would be engulfed in fire and brimstone.” What a positive attitude.

Then again, Larry also says God’s ultimate plan, “as we know, is the destruction of the world.” Sounds very Christian to me.

Here’s where my own confusion sets in: If Democrats were elected by God to weaken the world and Republicans to carry out that destiny, how do I know who to vote for to speed God’s will?

Gun advocate Jan Morgan versus Asa Hutchinson? Bruce Westerman or Mary Shamel for Congress? In my local school board election?

Please, Larry, help simple minds such as myself and inform us as to the right votes. I appreciate the fact you acknowledge you don’t speak for God, though you may, since you’re “not sure.”

Larry, I believe in God and I’ll never forget what someone told me the Bible stood for: “Basic Instructions Before Leaving Earth.”
