KILLEEN, Texas — Torrea Denise Garland Jackson, of Killeen, Texas, passed away on Saturday, Feb. 17, 2018, at the age of 52.

Torrea was born to Thomas Jay (T.J.) and Pearlie Mae Richards Garland on Sept. 22, 1965, in Hot Springs, Ark. Her father preceded her in death. She grew up as the next eldest of four and graduated from Hot Springs High School in 1983 where she was an outstandin­g basketball player. She also attended Henderson State University in Arkadelphi­a, Ark.

Torrea married Shannon Lavon Adams in 1991, and the couple had two sons, Shannon and Jerone Adams. Torrea later married Ellery Charles Jackson in 1998 and remained wedded until his death on May 8, 2017.

Torrea is survived by her sons, Shannon and Jerone Adams, both of Austin, Texas; her mother, Pearlie Mae Garland, of North Little Rock, Ark.; her brothers, Candy Lynn Garland (April), of Jacksonvil­le, Ark., Edward Lewis (Barbara), of Frisco, Texas, and Thomas Garland, of North Little Rock, Ark.; her sisters, Annette Garland, of Baltimore, Md., Kimberly Garland, Hot Springs, Ark., and Gloria Lloyd, Hope, Ark.

A memorial service will be held at Carrigan Memorial Funeral Home, Hot Springs, Ark., at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 24. Burial will take place immediatel­y afterwards at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, in JoAnn, Ark. The Garland family is grateful for the condolence­s, and the kind and thoughtful words of each and every one.
