Confusing positions

-

Dear editor:

Response to “Doc” Crawford, Wednesday, Feb. 28. “Doc,” you said that you do not support abortion, but that you do believe in a woman’s right to murder her unborn baby! That’s certainly very contradictory. You cannot have it both ways!

When you support a woman’s right to choose abortion (death) instead of life for the baby, don’t you realize that you are supporting abortion? You must either be for abortion or against abortion. There is no in-between position on this life and death matter!

God certainly has taken a clear, definite position regarding this. “You shall not murder” (Exodus 20:13, one of the Ten Commandments).

Also in Proverbs 6:16-19, God tells of seven things that He hates! One of them is “hands that shed innocent blood.” This verse most certainly applies to those aborted babies that were killed by guilty hands. God doesn’t give anyone a so-called “right” to murder another person, either in the womb or outside the womb! God forbids it. Abortion is, therefore, sinful.

You might even try to rationalize abortion by saying that the living fleshly creation in a mother’s womb is not really a baby, but only a fetus. Did you know that fetus is the Latin word for — unborn baby?

Remember also that if someone murders a pregnant woman, they can be legally charged with a double murder! Obviously, our lawmakers knew in their hearts that we are dealing with a real human baby that just hasn’t been born yet.

“Doc,” are you absolutely sure that you want to continue supporting a woman’s “right” to choose an abortion? You must share in the guilt whenever you publicly support the abortion option. What about the innocent, helpless baby’s God-given right to live?

“Since 1973 when the Supreme Court declared that abortion was legal, nearly 50 million unborn children have been murdered and an additional 1.3 million children are being killed each year.” Pastor Robert Jeffress, First Baptist Church, Dallas, stated in his book, “Twilight’s Last Gleaming,” that another serious result of abortion is the guarantee of God’s judgment upon a nation. God cannot continue blessing a nation that keeps on rebelling against what He says is right!

You also said that you have never supported same-sex marriage. I suppose that we can then interpret that to mean that you still do not support it now, either. Good! God doesn’t support it in the Scriptures, either. Look at Romans 1:26-28 and 32 and you will see how homosexual sex relations are strictly forbidden.

So, “Doc,” if you really haven’t supported abortion and same-sex marriage in your previous letters, perhaps I could have easily confused you with some of the many other liberal letter writers.

Even though your dictionary definition of evangelical was correct, my main point was that true Christian evangelicals will not continue to believe in and practice what God says is wrong and sinful.

Jesus said that “Not everyone who calls Him ‘Lord’ will be welcomed in heaven” (Matthew 7:2123).

God knows those who are really His. Lloyd Hoffman Hot Springs
