LH teacher speaks to Women’s Welcome
Women’s Welcome Club will meet at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at Hot Springs Country Club. Guest speaker will be Lake Hamilton School District teacher Christy Ruffin.
Ruffin earned a BSE in Early Childhood Education from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock and is working on her MSE in Technology Leadership from Henderson State University. She is a National Board Certified teacher who teaches computer science and coding at Lake Hamilton Middle School. After delivering a 2.5 pound micro-preemie at only 27 weeks gestation, Ruffin was motivated to co-found Bundles of Love Inc., a faith-based nonprofit organization that delivers toiletries to hospitals for distribution to patients and their caregivers. The organization’s mission is to comfort and encourage others in their time of need.

Men’s Village Garden topic on plants, seeds
HOT SPRINGS VILLAGE — Men’s Village Garden Club will meet at 9 a.m. Wednesday at Village United Methodist Church. Coffee and snacks will be available at 8:30 a.m. Sabrina Childs, of Ball Seed Co., will give a presentation on “Plants and Seeds Now Available for Our Gardens.” Anyone interested in gardening is welcome to attend this and other monthly meetings.
Childs began her career in horticulture at the Tippah County Growers in Tiplersville, Miss. She was the propagation manager, then seasonal color
sales manager, before moving to Ball Seed Co. as sales representative.
A brief business meeting will follow the program.

HSC Master Gardener March plant collection
Hot Spring County Master Gardeners will collect plant divisions and donations throughout the month of March in preparation for its annual plant sale April 7 at the Hot Spring County Fair Grounds. Proceeds fund scholarships, horticultural education and county beautification projects.
Call Marsha Salzman at 501229-3297 or Pat Treadway at 501-228-7464 to arrange for a local master gardener to pick up plants. Plants may be dropped off at the Hot Spring County Extension Office, 415 Smith St., Malvern. The program is sponsored by The University of Arkansas Division of Agriculture Research and Extension.
Computer Club of HSV announces classes
The Computer Club of Hot Springs Village will present two classes this week in Room 6 of the Coronado Center from 1-4 p.m. Please visit http://www. cchsv.org for more information and registration.
Tuesday is Introduction to Android Phones and Tablets. Students are asked to bring their device, email address and passwords.
Thursday, the class is Introduction to Excel spreadsheets. Computers will be provided.
The monthly social breakfast is 8 a.m. Friday at Debra’s in the Village. Nonmembers are welcome.
Get tickets for UAMS Day at the Races
An upcoming event will offer guests the chance to have a day at Arkansas’ only thoroughbred race track while supporting cancer patients at the Winthrop P. Rockefeller Cancer Institute at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences.
Day at the Races is set for 11:30 a.m. March 29 at Oaklawn Jockey Club. For the ticket price of $50 per person, guests will get lunch and an afternoon of thoroughbred racing. Tickets can be purchased at http://giving.uams. edu/dayattheraces or by calling 501-526-2277. Seating is limited, and parking is available in the north parking lot near the north entrance.
Honorary chairs for the event are Mary Beth Bridges and Andrea Bridges in memory of their husband and father, Don Bridges.
Emblem Bunco tourney slated for March 28

194 will host a Bunco tournament, “Bunco Babes Unite,” at
11 a.m. March 28 at Elks Lodge
380, 132 Abbott Place. Soup and sandwiches will be served. There will be prizes for the winners.
