President of WEHCO Digital accepts position in Florida

WEHCO Media Inc. announced Monday that Conan Gallaty, president of its Digital Division, has accepted a similar position with the Tampa Bay Times in Florida.

A 20-year-veteran of digital publishing, Gallaty has spent the last nine years at WEHCO, starting as the Digital director for the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette.

“I’ve loved my time here,” Gallaty said. “It has been a privilege to work for such a great company and with great people.”

Owned by the Poynter Institute, the Tampa Bay Times is a highly respected newspaper with 12 Pulitzer Prizes to its name.

“Moving to Florida gets me closer to family,” Gallaty said. “Moving from WEHCO to the Tampa Bay Times lets me continue working for a company that puts its readers first by providing exceptiona­l journalism.”

During his tenure, Gallaty helped launch many new digital initiative­s, including WEHCO’s digital agency, Flypaper, which just celebrated its fiveyear anniversar­y.

“It has been a pleasure working with Conan. During his tenure with our company, he has been instrument­al in starting many successful digital initiative­s. We wish him well in his new role. We will immediatel­y begin a search for the right person to take these initiative­s into the future,” WEHCO Media’s President and CEO Nat Lea said.

Gallaty will start his new role in April.
