Extension agent to address Daylily Society
The Hot Springs Daylily Society will meet at 10 a.m. Saturday in the Christian Life Center of First United Methodist Church, 218 Pratt St.
The program will be “Soils” by Allen Bates, the agriculture/horticulture agent for the University of Arkansas Cooperative Extension Service in Garland County.
Bates is a graduate of Arkansas State University with a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture, and taught vocational agriculture at Lake Hamilton
High School. He worked for Anthony Timberlands in production forestry.

GC Audubon topic: ‘Bird Friendly Yards’
Garland County Audubon Society will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 3819 Central Ave. Visitors are welcome. The program will be presented by Loretta West, president of Garland County Audubon Society. The topic is “Bird Friendly Yards.”
This certification program is sponsored by Arkansas Audubon Society. It covers native plants, food and water, bird hazard reduction, bird shelter, cover and nesting, and personal actions. Certifications are available with a yard flag to denote the bird friendliness level of the yard.
