Eugene Cockrell, 82, of Hooks, Texas, formerly of Hot Springs, went to be with his Lord and Savior peacefully on March 7, 2018. He was born on Oct.21, 1935, in Hot Springs, to the late William Floyd and Lena (Kelley) Cockrell.

On Jan. 6, 1961, Eugene married the love of his life, Dorothy Covey Cockrell. Eugene was a hardworkin­g man who always worked hard to provide for his family whom he loved very much. He was an avid sports fan, especially loving the games of football and golf.

Eugene never missed watching a golf tournament and his favorite sports team was the Arkansas Razorbacks. After his retirement from Arkansas Aluminum Alloys on April 16, 2001, Eugene enjoyed getting to spend more time with his family. Eugene was a loving husband, dad, Papa, brother, uncle, cousin and friend who will be greatly missed by all.

Eugene was greeted at Heaven’s gate by his parents; his wife of 55 years, Dorothy Cockrell; his four brothers; and three sisters.

He is patiently waiting for his surviving family members to join him at Heaven’s gate; his four children and their spouses, Delores Wilcox, Larry and Teresa Cockrell, Rick and Kim Cockrell and Eugenia and Mark Jackson; his nine grandchild­ren; his eleven great-grandchild­ren; one great-great-grandchild; three sisters and one brotherin-law, Amanda Moore, Pat and Leonard Tubbs, and Linda Sue Outler; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Monday at Caruth-Hale Funeral Home.

A celebratio­n of Eugene’s life will take place 10 a.m. Tuesday at Hollywood Cemetery with Brother Kevin McDaniel officiatin­g.

Pallbearer­s include Stacy Morris, Adam Cockrell, Rick Cockrell, Corey Jackson and Chris Abercrombi­e.

Honorary pallbearer­s include Lori McGee, Courtney Flores, Linda Loper and Shalena McCoy.
