NPMC Rehab Department to launch mobile app

-

The NPMC Rehabilitation team recently launched an exclusive, progress tracking, patient-centered mobile app called RehabTracker. The RehabTracker app, powered by Kindred, is an easy-to-use mobile app that provides updates on a rehab patient’s progress towards their recovery goals. RehabTracker gives patients the ability to view updates from their therapy team, track their own progress on areas of functional improvement and provides the ability to share the results with designated friends and family. By inviting friends and family, they can provide support and encouragement over the course of their recovery journey in real time.

Rehabilitation Program Director Melissa Calaway said in the press release, “At the NPMC Rehab Unit, we want to ensure that we’re providing a level of care to the patient, as well as their family and support system. By implementing this new technology, we’re transforming the way we engage with patients and families who can now take a more active role in their loved one’s healing journey. This can be easily shared with the patient and their loved ones with the push of a button. With RehabTracker, we’re elevating the way we provide care and staying well ahead of the curve.”

Goals set in RehabTracker are written in patient-centric language for both in hospital and, upon discharge, at home. Activities of daily living, distance and transfers are each scored in ways that are patient-centric. The goal is to display information patients can understand and talk about with therapists and invited family and friends. The app, which is highly secure and HIPAA compliant, will be available on iOS and Android and is scheduled to launch at NPMC Rehab in mid-March.
