Norma M. Marquette

-

Norma Marilyn Marquette, of Hot Springs, Ark., left this earth on March 9, 2018, to join her Heavenly Father and loving family and friends.

She was born in Rose Valley, Saskatchewan, Canada, on Dec. 23, 1932.

She grew up as a young girl loving nature and its creations; traveling throughout Canada, the Northwest Territories and Alaska. She enjoyed the Polar Bear and Whale watching tours. Norma was also a gifted artist and poet. She loved animals, especially cats, and was one of the original creators of the Hot Springs Guardian Angels Cat Club.

The following is a poem called “Phoebe,” written by Marilyn herself, and we hope it’s a source of comfort to all who read:

Your favorite chair is vacant now, No eager purrs to greet me,

No softly padded paws to run Ecstatically to meet me.

No coaxing rubs, no plaintive cry will say it’s time for feeding.

I’ve put away your bowl and all the things you won’t be needing.

But I will miss you, little friend, for I could never measure

The happiness you brought to me, the comfort and the pleasure.

And since God put you here to share in earthly joy and sorrow,

I know there’ll be a place for you in heaven’s bright tomorrow.
