Ronald S. Beasley Sr.

MALVERN — Ronald Shawn Beasley Sr., 53, of Malvern, passed away March 3, 2018.

Visitation is from noon to 2 p.m. today, March 14, 2018, in the Atkinson Funeral Home chapel in Malvern. Funeral services will follow visitation. Interment is at Alford Cemetery.

Harvey J. Clinton

Harvey John Clinton, 78, of Hot Springs, passed away Sunday, March 11, 2018.

He was born Jan. 31, 1940, in Wilmington, Del., to the late Harvey and Dorothy Kreggenwin­kle Clinton. He was owner of the Frontier Club; a Navy veteran and of the Catholic faith.

He was predecease­d by his parents and brother, Charles Clinton.

Survivors include his children, Charles Clinton, B.J. (Angie) Clinton; mother of his children, Janet McElhaney; brother, Carl Clinton; sister, Debbie (Nick) Lingo; three grandchild­ren; Ashlan (Kenny) Spencer, Miller Clinton, Elizabeth Clinton; and one great-granddaugh­ter, Adalyn Kate Spencer.

Graveside service will be held 10 a.m. Thursday, March 15, at Crestview Cemetery with Roland Adcock officiatin­g.

Pallbearer­s are Jerry Donaldson, Doug Garrett, Mario Ruiz, Tom Anderson, John Dean and Tony George.

Honorary pallbearer­s are Terry Akins, Scott Bigelow, Sam Bryant, Robert Cassinelli, Charles Dodge, Pat Garrett, Anson Keys, Joe Bob McAdams, Jack Meadows, Tommy Muldoon, Kelly Murray, Billy Poe, David Saracini, Robert “Bobo” Smith, Ronald “Big Ron” Stevens.

James D. Faulkner

James D. “Pa” Faulkner, 93, of Hot Springs, passed away on Sunday, March 11, 2018.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday in Alpine Cemetery Chapel on Center Ridge Road.

James T. Harwood

James Thomas “Jim” Harwood, of Hot Springs, Ark., was born Feb. 2, 1931, in Jonesboro, Ark., to Thomas and Pauline (Summers) Harwood. Jim went to the Lord on March 10, 2018, at the age of 87.

He is predecease­d by his son, Raymond; brother, Marc; and sister, Joan.

Jim is survived by his wife, friend and greatest love, Marilyn; sister, Cynthia Dilatush; son, Bert Harwood — his wife Gayle; daughter, Melinda Barker — her husband Bill; daughter, Lynn Kelley; grandchild­ren, Arron Harwood, Justin Harwood, Amber Rust, William Kelley, Jamie Dannelly, Misty Huss, Adam Neighbors, Julian Green; and 10 great-grandchild­ren.

Jim grew up in Jonesboro where he learned and loved nature, enjoyed hunting and fishing, often bringing home his “catch of the day” to a doting grandmothe­r.

He served our country as a career Air Force pilot, which included tours in both Korean and Vietnam wars. During his tour in Vietnam, he flew 244 combat missions in F86, F100 and A1E Skyraider fighter jets and was awarded the third highest U.S. medal, the Silver Star, for heroism during war.

Jim was one of the founding members of the Hot Springs Bonsai Club, an extension of his passion for nature and gardening. Many of his creations may be seen at Garvan Woodland Gardens nature preserve, near Hot Springs. He was also a founding member of the Fountain Lake Fire Department, serving as a volunteer firefighte­r, chief and all-around mechanic on their numerous equipment trucks. Jim also was a member of the Lions Club in this area.

His first love was always his family. A wonderful son, brother, husband and father, he will be dearly missed. Jim was always the “go to guy” for advice and knowledge, touching everyone in his circle of life.

A celebratio­n of Jim’s life will be 2 p.m. Friday at Caruth Village Funeral Home with Brother Wade Overturf officiatin­g.

W.T. Howard

W.T. “Tom” Howard, 70, passed away March 10, 2018.

Tom was born in Lane, Okla., to the late Gerald and Ora Howard.

An accomplish­ed thoroughbr­ed horse trainer, some of Tom’s best horses included Oaklawn-raced Rocket Twentyone and Oaklawn stakes winners Heart Appeal, Stormin’Suzy and Ain’t He a Pistol. He was also very proud of Ivan Fallunoval­ot, 2015 Texas Thoroughbr­ed Horse of the Year, Breeder’s Cup contender, who most recently ran third in the 2018 Hot Springs Stakes.

Tom loved his wife, Kathleen Moore Howard; daughter, Melissa Howard; pups, Sophie and Pie; siblings, Danny, Sam, Gerald, Johnny, Mary, Wanda and Wayne; dear friends, Frank Fletcher and Lewis Matthews; and many more friends, too numerous to name, who cannot imagine Tom not being in a barn somewhere, reading the paper in the company of his favorite horse.

He was predecease­d by his brother, Roger Howard.

Carolyn K. McNeely

Carolyn Kay McNeely, 62, of Hot Springs, passed away on Saturday, March 10, 2018.

She was born on June 8, 1955, in Fayettevil­le, Ark., the daughter of the late George Eads and Gloria Eads Cummins.

Carolyn is survived by her husband of 47 years, Clifford McNeely; her sons, Steven and Michael McNeely, daughterin-law, Amy McNeely; grandchild­ren, Serenity McNeely and Abigail Machen; brother, Michael Hawkins; sister-in-law, Lauri Hawkins; brother-in-law, Aubrey McNeely; nephews, Robert, Aubrey Jr. and Marion Earl McNeely, nephews, Justin and Robert Hawkins, and niece, Hope Hawkins.

A celebratio­n of Carolyn’s life will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 17, 2018, at East Side Missionary Baptist Church, 101

C.L. Pennington

C.L. (Carnish) Pennington, age 93, of Hot Springs, died Sunday, March 11, 2018.

He was born on Nov. 23, 1924, in Pearcy, the son of Marvin Pennington and Ophelia Short Pennington. On June 6, 1945, he married Pauline Vaughn. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Edgar Pennington and David Pennington; and seven sisters, Ola Featherson, Ida Short, Stella Long, Julia Short, Velma Conine, Oneida Pennington and Bobbie Tucker.

C.L. attended Malvern First Assembly of God. He worked for many years as a logger, millwright, carpenter, electricia­n and car salesman.

He is survived by his wife, Pauline Pennington; one son and daughter-in-law, Vic and Reba Pennington; one daughter and son-in-law, Debbie and Dale Clem, all of Hot Springs; three grandchild­ren; Shannon Pennington, Chase and Jenni Clem, Cory Clem (Nikki Skrivanos); two great-grandchild­ren, Josh Brown and Jake Brown; numerous nieces, nephews and a host of wonderful friends.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday in the Mount Tabor Community Church, Glenwood, with the Rev. Jimmy Bobo and Rev. Tony Burrow officiatin­g.

Interment will be in Mount Tabor Cemetery under the direction of Davis-Smith Funeral Home, Hot Springs.

Visitation will be held 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Pallbearer­s will be Shannon Pennington, Chase Clem, Cory Clem, Troy Senn, Josh Brown and Jake Brown.

Marlon Sanders

Marlon “Joe” Sanders, 18, of Hot Springs, passed away Thursday, March 8, 2018.

He was born June 22, 1999, in Jonesboro, Ark.

He attended Legacy Church. Predecease­d by his grandfathe­r, Johnny Collum; and uncle, Roy Smith.

Survivors include his grandmothe­r, Clarice Collum; mother, Amanda (Jason) Mann; brother, Miron Dupri Sanders; aunt, Helen (Gene) Oliver; uncles, James (Tina) Perdue and Donnie Holland.

Private services will be held at a later date.

William E. Trantham

LITTLE ROCK — William Eugene Trantham, age 88, of Little Rock, passed away on Sunday, March 11, 2018.

He was born on Aug. 6, 1929, in Elkland, Mo., the son of Harvey Wilson Trantham and Lola Jane Minor Trantham. On June 7, 1959, he was married to Patsy Ann Starr Trantham, who preceded him in death.

William proudly served his country in the armed forces and was a Korean War veteran.

He received his PhD from Northweste­rn University in June of 1966. Dr. T, as his students called him, began his career at Ouachita Baptist University in 1960 and retired in May 1994. At that time, he was named Professor Emeritus of Music by OBU. He also taught at Southwest Baptist University of Bolivar, Mo. He served as a professor of music, was the first dean of the School of Music at OBU when it was establishe­d in 1968 and served as chairman of the Applied Music Department within the OBU School of Music. Dr. Trantham was involved with, and a member of, many organizati­ons, including: Mu Omicron chapter of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia National Honorary Music Fraternity, College Music Society, Music Teachers National Associatio­n, Federated Music Clubs, American Musicologi­cal Society, and the American Guild of Organists and Epsilon Delta Chapter of Pi Kappa Lambda. In 2016, Dr. Trantham was honored as a Distinguis­hed Member Friend of the Arts by Sigma Alpha Iota Music Fraternity Hot Springs Alumnae Chapter.

Dr. Trantham served as organist and as organist/choir director for many churches throughout his career. He served as organist/choir director for Westminste­r Presbyteri­an Church in Hot Springs for over 23 years before retiring from that position.

Dr. T was loved and respected by so many people. His love of music and teaching affected many. Even in his last years, he was able to play hymns, which people hummed and sang to with smiles on their faces.

Dr. Trantham is survived by his daughter and son-inlaw, Rachel King and husband Charles; granddaugh­ter, Lindsay Harris and husband David; great-grandson, Jacob Hooper, granddaugh­ter, Nicole Jackson, son, Gene Trantham and wife Nancy, grandsons, Daniel and Evan Trantham; and beloved niece, Beverly Jones.

The family wishes to thank the many who visited Dr. T and who sent cards and letters.

A special thanks is extended to Baptist Hospice for their team’s loving care. Words cannot thank the staff of Parkway Village Health Center for the love and care that they provided to Dr. T in the last year of his life.

In lieu of flowers and other customary condolence­s, memorials can be made to the OBU Music Department, 410 Ouachita St., Box 3754, Arkadelphi­a, AR 71998.

2018. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 17, 2018, both at Westminste­r Presbyteri­an Church in Hot Springs. Burial will follow services at Crestview Memorial Park. Rev. Chip Hatcher and Rev. Tom Ulrich will be officiatin­g.
