Looks like the winter cold and dreariness is over and the Spa City is blooming in all of its splendor! Nothing inspires the designers here at Statements like nature and the beautiful colors that are in it.

Spring 2018 design trends are fun and fresh and full of texture and pattern. This is what we are seeing so far …

1. Botanicals — We are loving all of the nature-inspired art and textures we are seeing in design. Notice the art grouping of botanicals above the chest in the picture. The use of natural elements in a room design grounds the room and gives it an earthy feel.

2. Neutral palette … but with a pop — Keeping your walls and bedding neutral can give your room longevity. But don’t be afraid to add a pop of color. The beautiful turquoise that is used in this room adds some interest but at the same time a cool, calming effect … think of a spa!

3. Bold pattern — Checks and plaids are always in style! Pair them with a bold floral and you have a room design that is fun and fresh.

4. “New Trad” style — Traditional is coming back but it’s much more sophisticated and full of texture and unusual color combinations. Think of a traditionally patterned Oriental rug that is overdyed in purples, pinks, and greens. Still a traditional pattern but nontraditional colors!

5. Mixing Metals — Don’t worry about matching your doorknobs to your plumbing fixtures … or your plumbing fixtures to your light fixtures. Mixing metals gives you lots of choices and adds sparkle and interest to a room.

As far as design trends go, they are great and give you an idea of what’s available and what you will be seeing in showrooms. However, don’t worry about trends! Buy what you love and use the things that are precious to you. A good designer can incorporate those items into your room and make your room personal and unique! Happy decorating!
