In addition to being the oldest ready mix concrete business in Arkansas, C.J. Horner Co., in its 110th year and with its newly remodeled showroom, can now showcase a wide variety of its windows, siding, stone and vinyl products in a virtual tour to give customers an idea of what the finished product will look like before they even buy it.

Rich Horner is excited about the potential of the showroom setting, saying, “With the complete remodel of our displays, homeowners can see what the mix-and-match of our products look like in a real world application. It gives them a practical perspective and designers love it because they can see how a particular window will look with a certain texture of vinyl or stone going around it.

“We have done vinyl windows for 21 years and are proud to have new samples with varying glass combinations and even new exterior paint color options. It is a very customer friendly area for people to visit and ask questions and see real life examples of the quality products offered by C.J. Horner Co.,” Horner said.

He added, “Blue prints and photos in magazines sometimes are not enough to convince a customer, but when they have something they can look at and touch, it gives them the whole picture and is a great tool in helping them decide what they want. We have different textures of glass, wood, vinyl and framing.

“Recent additions to our showroom include stained concrete counter tops for the perfect outdoor kitchen. Continuing on our outdoor theme, we have the best price around on Adirondack furniture, which we manufacture at our Building Material location made from our Yellawood treated lumber. And finally, what outdoor setting would be complete without a grill? C.J. Horner is the only dealer in Hot Springs where you can find the PK Grill. We have the best price in a 75-mile radius on the PK Grills and have a complete selection of replacement grills and grates as well as covers and other accessories. Come see these and all our newly expanded hardware lines.”

C.J. Horner Co. Inc. was founded in 1907 at the corner of Benton Street, now Convention Boulevard and Elm Street by C.J. Horner. The business originally sold livestock feed, coal and wholesale groceries. Building materials were added in 1915 and Ready Mix Concrete was added in 1939. It is the oldest Ready Mix Concrete business in Arkansas still owned by the same family, now through four generations. In 1987, C.J. Horner Co. purchased Valley Lumber Co. and with this purchase added lumber and more building materials to its offerings. The company is located at the corner of Valley Street and Grand Avenue and has been a mainstay in the building industry since the late 1800’s. The original C.J. Horner Co. property was subsequently donated to the city to enhance the new Convention Center and Summit Arena. C.J. Horner Companies main concrete plant in Hot Springs is located at 1175 Westinghouse Rd at the corner of Malvern Avenue and Westinghouse Road. We keep various sizes of landscape gravels including oversize gravel, 1 and one-quarter washed gravel, crushed stone, and pea gravel. We also have concrete sand and masonry sand as well as rebar and wire mesh.

Besides having the Concrete Ready Mix plant in Hot Springs they also have plants located in Hot Springs Village, Malvern, and Arkadelphia. Recently they added a concrete plant in Pearcy which they hope will reduce their customer’s tail up times and increase their production.

Another product that the Horner’s are excited about is Centurion Stone, which has provided the construction industry high quality cultured stone products for every application possible for almost 42 years. The “close to nature” appearance of Centurion’s wide variety of stone products has made it a favorite site of builders and architects worldwide for decades. The fact that it’s lighter, less expensive and easier to install than natural gives the stone a distinct advantage.

Besides the wide variety of lumber and building materials, Horner also has the three top lines of windows: Andersen, Eagle or E Series Andersen, and Weather-Barr. Knowledge, quality and service at competitive prices is Horner’s distinction.

Newly added within the last year is a Hardwoods Division. C.J. Horner Co. is now stocking a full line of hardwood lumber and hardwood panels, perfect for the professional cabinet maker to the amateur woodworker. They have a dedicated outside salesman, Richard Dawson who can call on cabinet makers and contractors in a 60 mile radius of Hot Springs. They encourage everyone to stop by the store and see the great selection of hardwoods and let their knowledgeable staff help you with your material needs.

“We have the best inside and outside sales force, along with our service, to help you with your new construction or remodel.” Horner said. “If you’re doing business with us, you know these facts. If not, give us an opportunity to show you what knowledge, service and quality products at great prices can do for you.”

There are exciting things happening at C.J. Horner Co. right now, including recent changes in management. Still family owned, it is now being operated by the fourth generation which consists of John, Chris, and Rich Horner.

“We look forward to continuing the long standing Horner tradition, while enhancing and expanding on the principles and foundation began by our great-grandfather, C.J. Horner in 1907. We are very excited about celebrating our 110th year and want to thank Hot Springs and all our customers for making this possible.”
