Shooting victim ‘uncooperative,’ police say

A Hot Springs man was reportedly shot in the foot and leg early Sunday near a local restaurant, and Hot Springs police have reportedly been unable to get much information about how it happened.

Shortly before 2:30 a.m. Sunday, officers responded to IHOP, 3837 Central Ave., in reference to a report of shots fired and upon arrival found the victim, Tavvorye Whitaker-Lemons, 21, of Hot Springs, behind the restaurant with non life-threatening gunshot wounds.

“Lemons was uncooperative with officers and refused to provide information,” police said in a news release Monday.

No arrests have been made and anyone who may have seen or heard anything or has any other infor-

Lemons was arrested Dec.

19, 2016, along with two other suspects, after drugs, including marijuana, codeine and Xanax, and two loaded semi-automatic handguns were reportedly found in their possession. Lemons reportedly had $2,742 in cash on his person at the time.

Lemons was charged with two felony counts of possession of a controlled substance with purpose to deliver, simultaneous possession of drugs and firearms, and unauthorized use of another person’s property to facilitate a crime.

On June 5, 2017, he pleaded guilty to one count of possession of a controlled substance, codeine, reduced from the more serious charge involving purpose to deliver, and was sentenced to six years in prison, with the entire sentence suspended, fined $1,000 and ordered to pay $545 in court costs.

The other felony counts were all reportedly withdrawn by prosecutors.
