Disc golf clinic offered at Cedar Glades Park

Latitude 64° will present a disc golf clinic at Cedar Glades Park on Saturday.

The clinic, hosted by JohnE McCray, will start at 10 a.m. at the park, 461 Wildcat Rd. The clinic will consist of two to three hours of group and individual lessons with McCray.

Registrati­on is $25 and can be done the day of the clinic. The price includes a player’s package.

The public is also invited to attend to watch.

OBU senior receives GAC nomination

ARKADELPHI­A — Ouachita Baptist senior center and utility player Sarah Johnson was nominated for Great American Conference Player of the Week after batting .583 with two home runs and eight RBIs in a weekend series against East Central in Ada, Okla.

The Tigers (11-12, 7-9) split Friday’s doublehead­er with a 6-5 win and a 5-4 loss. Ouachita took the edge in the series on Saturday with a 10-9 victory, but East Central (13-13, 8-8) won the finale, 9-1.

The senior from Mount Vernon, Texas, who leads the Tigers with 30 RBIs, is tied for the most doubles with five and is second on the team in batting average at .384. Senior Paige Purifoy, of Farming- ton, is batting .390.

Southeaste­rn Oklahoma State freshman first baseman Elexis Watson was named the GAC Softball Player of the Week. Also nominated were Brooke Goad, senior, Southern Arkansas; Aspen Grimes, junior, Oklahoma Baptist; Janie Knowles, senior, Arkansas Tech; Alissa Taylor, senior, East Central; and Madi Trump, senior, Harding. Watson was also named GAC Freshman of the Week.

Ouachita is scheduled to host Southeaste­rn (18-11, 12-4) for a pair of doublehead­ers on Friday and Saturday.
