Makes no sense

- Larry Bauer Hot Springs Village

Dear editor:

In a way, Mike Nunn is a walking, talking, letter writing advertisement for why you shouldn’t listen to Mike and those who think like him. What do we know about him? He’s from California and evidently is retired now, but was a prosecutor in, I think, San Jose. This likely makes Mike qualified to draw a nice pension due to the largess of both the taxpayers and Democrat politicians of California. I guess we can figure out why he likes Democrats, for in states like California and Illinois, they shower state workers like Mike with big benefits so they in turn vote for Democrats, but also leave those states deep in debt.

To pay for all these huge benefits, the California Democrats have to tax everything that isn’t nailed down and that in turn makes it hard, especially for middle class folks to live there. States like California and Illinois have been losing large portions of their middle classes and many businesses. Mike, who even with a large pension may have taken a pay cut when he retired so as many middle class and even business people have done, Mike looks for a better, more well run, state to move. He lands in Arkansas, a state that for the most part has been run by Christian conservatives, that balances its budget, that lives within its means, and therefore, unlike where Mike came from, has reasonable taxes and a reasonable cost of living.

Mike, therefore, doesn’t want to stay in California and pay all those big taxes when he can move to a state like Arkansas and live much better thanks to the largess of the taxpayers of California and the common sense of the conservative Christian leaning politicians and people who elected them in Arkansas. The people he then disparages by insinuating they are just too stupid to know Jesus was a Middle Eastern Jew, but must be a Swede or maybe Norwegian. He then, by his letters, seems to want to turn his well-run adopted state into the mess he left behind. Who thinks this makes sense?
