NORMAN — Lonnie Meeks, of Norman, Ark., went to be with the Lord Wednesday, March 28, 2018.

He was born Jan. 31, 1928, in Norman, Ark., to Lee Monroe Meeks and Fannie Ellen (Greene) Meeks, as the second of seven children. Lonnie was a loving husband and father.

He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Nancy Meeks; brother, Joe Meeks; sisters, Arlene Foshee and Ruby King; son, Randy Meeks (Susan), son, Bob Freeman (Becky), daughter, Teri Lee, son, David Lucero, son, Curtis Clark, daughter, Lisa Williams, daughter, Donna Clark, and son, Richard Fountain (Donna); plus many grandchild­ren, great-grandchild­ren, and family and friends who loved him.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Erbie Meeks, Jack Meeks and Harley Meeks; and his daughters, Crystal Nieto and Cindy Suit.

Lonnie served in the United States Army and was a veteran of World War II. He was a skilled mechanic, carpenter and independen­t contractor. However, his passion was in music and he loved to play with his friends. He was always willing to help anyone in need. He loved his family and they loved him in return.

A graveside service will be held at McKinney Cemetery in Story, Ark., at 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 31, 2018. Services will be officiated by longtime friend, Bud Wilburn.
