Trojans, JV Wolves make marks at Hot Springs meet

Lake Hamilton and Hot Springs had a strong day at the Joe Reese Memorial Relays at Hot Springs Thursday, but White Hall boys and Little Rock Hall girls won the meet.

Lake Hamilton’s junior varsity girls finished second with 109 points behind Hall’s 130. Hot Springs’ girls finished fourth with 85 points, while Malvern and Mountain Pine took seventh and eighth places.

For the boys, the JV Wolves finished third with 102 points behind White Hall’s 171 and Camden Fairview’s 129.5. Hot Springs finished with 92 points for fourth with Malvern and Mountain Pine in seventh and eighth places.

Lake Hamilton’s junior varsity girls won three events in the relays. Katherine Scalzo won the 800-meter run ahead of teammate Madison

Mears.

Meighan Mears won the

3200-meter run, while her twin sister Madison took second.

Brianna Trott won the discus for the Lady Wolves, while teammate Samantha Springer finished third, just six inches behind Malvern’s Diamond Ollison.

Hot Springs’ 4x400-meter relay team of Curnesha Johnson, Ashley Mitchell, A’Yannah Jefferson and Heather Vogel finished second behind Hall.

Lady Trojan Teiara Gordon won the girls’ high jump. Nina Thomas and Vogel took first and second in the pole vault with Thomas winning the jump-off.

Lake Hamilton’s junior varsity boys won four events at the relays. Houston Baber won the 1600-meter run, while teammates J.T. Griggin and Carter Manatt finished fourth and fifth, respective­ly.

The JV Wolves took the top three spots in the 3200-meter run with Christian Silvar leading the pack. Neal Cole was second and Manatt finished third.

Lake Hamilton’s 4x800-meter relay team, consisting of Abraham Liera, Ethan Wacaster, Silvar and Baber, won the event. The

4x400-meter relay team of Liera, Wacaster, Dylan Baum and Cole Whisenhunt finished second, less than nine seconds behind the leaders.

Ray Hamp also won the shot put for the Wolves.

Hot Springs’ Eric Porter won the 400-meter dash with teammate Montae’l Williams finishing third. Porter also finished third in the

100-meter dash only 0.24 seconds behind the first-place finisher.

The Trojans’ relay team of Da’shan Doss, Dayton Clayton, Spencer Johnson and Javian West finished third in the 4x100-meter. The 4x400-meter relay team of Otis Wesley, Porter, Williams and Johnson was third.

Hot Springs’ Louis Lammers won the pole vault, while teammate Eli Spaniour was second.
