Willibando Arellano, 48, of Hot Springs, formerly of Mexico, died Tuesday, March 27, 2018.

Ronald Arnold

Ronald Arnold, 70, of Hot Springs, passed away on Sunday, April 1, 2018, in Little Rock. He was born on Dec. 19, 1947, in Bellville, Ill., to the late Sylvester and Marie Arnold. He was a retired truck driver for the Sanitation Department for the City of Hot Springs.

Survivors include his fiancé, Linda Curtis, of Hot Springs; two sons, Donald Beard, of Bella Vista, Ark., and John Paul Werst, of Hot Springs; one brother, Donald Arnold, of San Antonio, Texas; and two sisters, Maxine Thompson, of Summervill­e, S.C., and Linda Thomas, of Hot Springs.

His wishes were to be cremated.

Stanley M. Cothren

Stanley Morrow Cothren Sr. passed away on March 31, 2018. Stan was born on May 1, 1935, in Texarkana, Ark.

Stan is survived by his wife of 58 years, Hilma Cothren; one brother, Jim Cothren, and sisterin-law, Angela Cothren, of Tyler, Texas; one son, Stanley Morrow Cothren Jr., of Memphis, Tenn.; and one daughter, Sally Cothren Bacon, of Huntsville, Texas.

He is survived also by six grandchild­ren, Stanley Morrow Cothren III, Carter James Cothren, Chase Martin Bacon, Taylor Ryan Bacon, Samuel Allen Bacon, and Kathryn Elizabeth Bacon-Reedy and her husband, Forrest Reedy; and one great-granddaugh­ter, Brooklyn Everly Reedy.

Stan was a graduate of Class of ‘57 at Louisiana State University with a degree in Civil Engineerin­g.

He was Past Master of Broadmore Lodge, Shreveport, La., Past Master and 59-year Mason. He was also a Shriner and a Jester. Stan was the founder of the Engineerin­g Firm of Cothren, Graff and Smoak in 1962 in Shreveport, La.

Charles E. Gilmore

HOT SPRINGS VILLAGE — Charles E. (Chuck) Gilmore, of Hot Springs Village, passed from this life on March 14, 2018. He was born April 23, 1948, in Madison, Wis.

Dr. Gilmore was a Lutheran pastor serving parishes in California, Kansas and Arkansas, retiring from Christ Lutheran Church in Hot Springs Village. He both played in the Hot Springs Concert Band and served as its president.

Chuck is survived by his wife, Marcia; daughter, Rebekah Gilmore (Tyler Morse), of Seattle, Wash.; son, Christophe­r (Rachel) and granddaugh­ter, Hannah, of Montgomery, Ill.; two brothers, Edward (Linda), of Overland Park, Kan., and James (Linda), of Madison, Wis.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. April 14, 2018, at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, 199 Barcelona Road, Hot Springs Village.

Darrell Jeffcoat, 73, of Hot Springs, died Friday, April 5, 2018.

Donald H. Lowenberg

Donald (Don) Hugo Lowenberg, 88, of Hot Springs, lived life to the fullest. He was a wonderful husband, father, brother, grandfathe­r and friend. His smile filled the room and everyone who knew him was blessed by his heart. Don passed away peacefully on April 5, 2018.

Don is survived by his four daughters, Jane Lowenberg, of Powder Springs, Ga., Carol Lowenberg, of Onalaska, Wis., Nancy Lowenberg, of Augusta, Ga., and Martha (Eduardo) Gil, of Sugar Grove, Ill.; his sister, Orien Lowenberg, of Donnellson, Iowa; and his grandchild­ren, Megan Gil and Alexander Gil, of Sugar Grove, Ill.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Florence Hartzler, of 45 years; his sisters, Ruby Lowenberg, Ruth Lowenberg, Maurine Krebil and Iola Spohnheime­r; and his second wife, Berenice Schamp, of 10 years.

Don was born on Sept. 24, 1929, in Donnellson, Iowa, to Hugo and Matilda Lowenberg. Don was the youngest of six children. Don grew up a hard worker, who loved working on his family farm in Donnellson. He is a proud graduate of Donnellson High School’s Class of 1947.

Don’s love for farming grew with him. In 1955, he received his Bachelors in Science in Agronomy from Iowa State University. Don was a dedicated agronomist. He worked for Pfister’s Associated Growers (PAG), later acquired by Cargill Seeds, from 1955 until his retirement in 1992. His work led him to live in Carrollton, Mo., Cutler Ridge, Fla., and Aurora, Ill.

In 1956, he married Florence Hartzler, of Pulaski, Iowa, and together they had four lovely daughters, Jane, Carol, Nancy and Martha.

In 1992, Don and Flo moved to Hot Springs, Ark., and joined Oaklawn United Methodist Church shortly afterwards. He assisted the church for several years as financial secretary. Don enjoyed singing with the choir, participat­ing in several church groups, fishing and wood working. Don was an avid golfer, and stamp and coin collector.

After Flo’s passing, Don married Bernice Schamp of Hot Springs, Ark., who was also a member of Oaklawn Church. Don and Bernice also participat­ed in numerous church activities until Bernice’s death in 2014.

A memorial for Don will be held 2 p.m. Monday, April 9, 2018, at Oaklawn United Methodist Church.

Willie J. Marshall

LAS VEGAS — Willie James Marshall Sr., age 47, of Las Vegas, Nev., formerly of Hot Springs, passed away on Saturday, March 31, 2018. He was born Dec. 29, 1970, in Hot Springs to Margaret Ann Marshall and Willie James McCoy. His mother preceded him in death as well as his grandparen­ts, Andrew and Marguerite Marshall Sr., and Willie James Hearn and Roselee McCoy.

He was a baptized believer in Jesus Christ.

Willie attended the Hot Springs school system and graduated from Jacksonvil­le High School in Jacksonvil­le, N.C. He joined the U.S. Army and served our country for 20 years retiring as a Master Sergeant. While serving in the military he was a highly decorated solider. Among those awards were the Bronze Star Medal, Army Commendati­on Medal, Meritoriou­s Service Medal, U.S. Navy Achievemen­t Medal and the USAF Presidenti­al Unit Citation.

He was awarded a Purple Heart due to injuries received as a result of hostile enemy action. Willie served in Kuwait, Balkans, Macedonia, Yugoslavia, Iraq and other areas too numerous to list. He also attended college while serving in the military.

Willie loved boxing and followed in his father’s footsteps as a boxing coach. He loved sports, and most of all, spending time with his family.

Those left to cherish his memories include his beloved children, Jasmine (Kendall Abel) Marshall and Willie James Marshall; his granddaugh­ter, Amber Skyann; his father, Willie James McCoy (Dr. Janice McCoy, PhD); his brothers, Daniel Johnson, Dr. Dorian McCoy, PhD (Carrie), Roderick McCoy (Tonya), Quentin McCoy (Eric), William McCoy (Tonya) and Jeremy McCoy; his sisters, Estra Barton (George), Paula Greathouse, Anita Douglas (Brian) and Tara Wesson-Miller (LaKeshia); and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 10, 2018, at St. Mark Baptist Church, 542 Crescent Ave, Hot Springs.

Burial will be at noon in the Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery, 1501 Maryland Ave., North Little Rock.

Thomas G. Miller

Thomas G. Miller, 86, of Hot Springs, Ark., passed away April 2, 2018. He was born April 10, 1931, in Davenport, Iowa, to Robert and Katherine “Corrine” (Knapp) Miller. Thomas was a member of The Catholic Church of St John the Baptist.

He served in the U.S. Army in Korea and upon his honorary discharge in 1953, began his career with Internatio­nal Brotherhoo­d of Electrical Workers.

During the building of the Majestic Hotel Lanai Suites, he and his co-worker, Doyle McGrew, performed CPR and saved the life of a hotel guest who was drowning in the swimming pool.

Thomas added joy and laughter to parades in Hot Springs, Little Rock, and during Beanfest in Mountain View with his decorated senior scooter that he made from old toilets and lawn mowers. One of his biggest thrills was when he was asked to let Mike Rowe from “Dirty Jobs” ride on his toilet trailer.

Thomas was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Edna Rose Terry Miller, whom he was devoted to during her 15-plus year battle with early-onset Alzheimer’s disease; son, Michael Miller; grandson, John Richard Miller; son-in-law, Jon Mazander; and grand-daughter by heart, Candace Humphreys.

He is survived by his son, Gregory (Hildegard), of Germany; daughters, Teresa Miller and Tammy Miller Buttrum, of Hot Springs; daughter-inlaw, Kim Miller, of California; grandchild­ren, Michael Miller and Glenn (Vandhy) Miller, of Texas, Chris (Daniela) Mazander, of Cincinnati, Ohio, Benita (Chris) Pearce, of Jessievill­e, and Zac Buttrum, of Hot Springs; 11 great-grandchild­ren, Samarian, Gage and Cyrus, of Texas, Naomi, Rebekah, Hannah, Isabella, and Abigail, of Ohio, and Zanlynn, Zander and Olyvia Zanna, of Jessievill­e; Judy and Ken Humphreys, whom he loved as his own; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. today at Caruth-Hale Funeral Home with a Rosary beginning at 6 p.m. officiated by Deacon Michael Johns.

Mass of Christian burial will be 10 a.m. Monday at St. John’s Catholic Church with Father Y.C. officiatin­g and Father James West and Father George Sanders as concelebra­nts. Burial will follow at Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

Pallbearer­s are Chris Mazander, Zac Buttrum, Chris Pearce, Zander Pearce, Richard Lewis, Patrick Pultz and Buddy Longinotti.

Honorary pallbearer­s include Rodney and Donald Greis, Doyle McGrew, IBEW 295, Former L.U. IBEW 619, Staff of St. John’s Church and School, TOPS AR 482, Doctor Steve and Bodemann Clinic Staff, Lake Hamilton Rehab Staff and Dick Antoine.

Peter B. Montgomery

GLENWOOD — Peter Benjamin Montgomery, 31, of Glenwood, died Saturday, March 31, 2018.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday in the Davis-Smith Funeral Home Chapel, Glenwood, with Brother Bobby Lock officiatin­g.

Melanie Robinson, 38, of Hot Springs, passed away April 5, 2018.

She was born Sept. 25, 1979, to Kenneth and Rose Marie Brown.
