Carson, Farmer star in LH Invitation­al

PEARCY — Josie Carson and Haze Farmer were awarded the outstandin­g performers at the

38th annual Lake Hamilton Invitation­al as the Lady Wolves placed third and the Wolves took second in their respective team competitio­ns.

Carson swept the 800-,

1600-and 3200-meter runs as Lake Hamilton finished with 84 points in the girls’ team rankings. Conway placed first in the girls’ standings at 132 with Sylvan Hills in second at 98.

Farmer set a new meet record in the pole vault and ran on the winning 4x400-meter relay team as the Wolves took second in the boys’ events. Vilonia placed first with 89 points, while Conway and Benton trailed closely behind Lake Hamilton with 80.40 and 78 points, respective­ly.

Knowledge Hood helped give Lake Hamilton first-place points in two events. He won the 400-meter dash, placed fifth in the 200-meter dash and also ran on the first-place 4x400-meter relay team.

Edie Murray and Cole Grace took the top two spots in the girls’ pole vault. Murray also placed third in the 200-meter dash and sixth in the long jump.

Haze Farmer placed first in the boys’ pole vault, but Rhett Nelson, of Trinity Christian, broke up the Wolves’ sweep of the event with a second-place finish. Lake Hamilton’s Michael Harris placed third.

William Burgess gave the Wolves 10 points with another first-place showing in the boys’ shot put.

Ahman Johnson had the two best finishes for Fountain Lake. He placed fourth in the long jump and sixth in the triple jump.

Jessievill­e’s best finisher was Alina Holman, who placed sixth in the 3200-meter run. Jacob Beardon placed eighth in two events, the high jump and the long jump, for the Lions.

Other teams to participat­e included Abundant Life, Bryant, Cabot, Caddo Hills, Little Rock Catholic, Little Rock Central, Maumelle, Mount St. Mary Academy, Russellvil­le and Trinity Christian.
