Crater of Diamonds State Park signs receive facelift
MURFREESBORO — Crater of Diamonds State Park recently installed several new signs at the park to help park staff communicate important messages more efficiently with guests.
Many signs along the path to the park’s diamond search area were rewritten to update information, including a list of rules and regulations to help visitors have a safe and fun experience. A new directory at the Diamond Discovery Center, the educational facility where visitors learn how to search for diamonds and rent mining tools, highlights park services and provides guidance for finding diamonds in the sifted gravel that many people take home, a news release said.
Other new panels were erected elsewhere at the park. Two redesigned wayside exhibits in the diamond search area detail the park’s geology and history. Signs at the washing pavilions were also rewritten to illustrate the wet sifting technique and offer tips for identifying diamonds in the rough. The Prospector Trail, Little Missouri River Trail and Wildlife Viewing Blind Trail also received colorful new trailhead signs that feature a map, safety tips and a brief description to help trail users know what to expect along the way.
