Agnes R.G. Dean

-

Agnes Rae Gill Dean, 87, of Hot Springs, Ark., formerly of Fordyce, Ark., passed from this life on to her eternal home with her family by her side on May 6, 2018.

She was born on Dec. 21, 1930, on a winter day with deep snow on the ground. Her parents were the late Edgar Harris Gill and Versa Wood Gill.

Agnes was a hard worker all of her life until serious health complications began in 2011. She entered the work force as an office worker at Fordyce High School, then married and stayed home with her two children until re-entering the work world in the late 1950s. The bulk of her working career was spent as the capable secretary at the Dallas County Extension Agency. However, where her work mattered the most was at home, serving her family from sunrise to sundown. She was truly a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother.

Agnes was a member of Fordyce First Baptist Church for many years, working in Beginner Sunday School Department, serving as secretary of her Ladies Sunday School Class, faithful member of Current Missions Group and, in her last years of living in Fordyce, as a willing volunteer at FBC Food Pantry.

Survivors are her daughter, Deborah Dean Tull (Dana); granddaughter, Lauren Tull Williams (Josh); great-grandchildren, Carter Dean Williams and Kennedy Grace Williams; brother Lawrence Gill (Connie); and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Agnes was also preceded in death by her parents; husband of nearly 65 years, George Dean; adored son, George R. “Randy” Dean Jr.; and siblings, Ruby Gill Moore, Paul Gill, Fred Gill, Roy Warren Gill and Georgia Gill Rogers.

The family wishes to express their gratitude to Brookfield Assisted Living, where she resided for six years. Also, special thanks is sent out to Seniors Comfort Assisted Living private care home for the loving care they provided these past eight months by Elijah, Anna and Wesley. Dierksen Hospice was another valuable provider for her and for the family. We thank each of you.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Benton Funeral Home in Fordyce with visitation one hour prior to service. Burial will follow at Oakland Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, 501 N. Main St., Fordyce, AR 71742. To sign the online register, visit http://www.bentonfuneralhome.net.
