Palmer’s Champion Trees schedules final exhibition
The “Champion Trees of Arkansas” are the largest of their species in the state, with growth spanning hundreds of years, and Hot Springs artist Linda Williams Palmer has spent years drawing them, artfully preserving the trees for future generations.
The culmination of her work is the exhibition “Champion Trees of Arkansas” and a book and award-winning AETN documentary inspired by her work.
The traveling exhibit has been shown at 22 venues throughout Arkansas for the past six years. Palmer is announcing the retirement of the exhibit after its last showing at UA Pulaski Tech. The exhibit will then return home to her studio in Hot Springs.
The Center for Humanities and Arts at UA Pulaski Tech is hosting the last exhibition of “Champion Trees of Arkansas-Drawing by Linda Williams Palmer” in the Windgate Gallery, 3000 W. Scenic Drive, North Little Rock, from Tuesday through July 27. The gallery is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday-Thursday; 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday; and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday. The exhibit is free and open to the public.
The opening reception for the exhibit begins at 5 p.m. Friday with the AETN documentary, “Champion Trees,” showing in the CHARTS Theater. Palmer will speak at 6:30 p.m. and a book signing will follow.
