Hot Springs Metro Partnershi­p provides many benefits to the area

The Hot Springs Metro Partnershi­p has been growing Hot Springs for more than 60 years. The Mission of the HSMP is to create economic opportunit­y by retaining, expanding, and attracting higher paying jobs, expanding and diversifyi­ng the local economy, increasing incomes and investment, and generating positive growth throughout the Hot Springs Region.

Incorporat­ed as a nonprofit organizati­on in 1955, the HSMP is a public/private economic developmen­t organizati­on that is managed by a Board of Directors. Pledges from private industry partners make up the majority of the HSMP’s funding while The City of Hot Springs and Garland County are also major funding partners.

In 2017, the HSMP worked 16 job creating economic developmen­t projects, which resulted companies and announcing 387 new high paying jobs and making $36 million in capital investment in the Hot Springs area. More than $23 million was made in capital investment in Downtown Hot Springs, with 41 news business opening and 30 historic commercial buildings sold.

Since its beginning as the GCIDC, the HSMP has brought much industry to the Hot Springs area. Some of the organizati­on’s accomplish­ment include:

• Built a spec building at Hot Springs Technology Park for the purposes of recruiting a company to create high paying jobs. HSMP recruited the Arkansas Passport Center to the facility which brought 200 jobs to the area.

• Developmen­t of the 464 acre Mid-America Industrial Park and built the Mid-America Fire Station

• Developmen­t of the Malvern Road (Highway 270) Industrial Park

• Constructi­on of industrial building at 257 Winans Ave.

• Purchased and later sold the property for the Lake Catherine Footwear

• Owned and operated the water system in the Highway 270 Industrial Park

• Purchase of the forestry building on Nevada Street, later sold to Chem-Fab Corporatio­n
