Muses Project to present ‘Man of La Mancha’ in June
The Muses Project’s fully staged production of “Man of La Mancha,” a beloved musical tale inspired by Miguel de Cervantes’ 17th century novel, “Don Quixote,” will be performed in Hot Springs Village at the Woodlands Auditorium at 7 p.m. June 15 and at the Muses Cultural Arts Center, 428 Orange St., Hot Springs, at 6 p.m. June 16 and 3 p.m. June 17.
“Man of La Mancha,” aptly described as a “play within a play,” takes place during the height of the Spanish Inquisition. It tells the story of Alonso Quijana, a kind but insane gentleman who has set reality aside to become Don Quixote De La Mancha, a brave knight errant on a passionate quest to revive chivalry, right wrongs, and bring justice to an unjust world. Hilarious and whimsical, yet poignant and impactful, this five-time Tony Award-winning musical has become one of the most enduring works of the musical theater stage and features beloved and stirring songs such as “The Impossible Dream,” “The Man of La Mancha” and “Dulcinea.”
The Muses Project’s troupe of touring and resident professional performers and musicians will transport audiences through this timeless tale of human despair, quest, cruelty and transformation. Stacey Murdock and Seth Renne of Portland, Ore., Roxanna Collingwood of Hot Springs, Alex Boyd and Jeanne Bennett of New York City, Tanner Oglesby of Bryant, and Muses general director and New Orleans native Deleen Davidson are the lead performers.
