JESSIEVILL­E — Gene Glazener, age 88, of Jessievill­e, Ark., passed away Monday, May 21, 2018.

He was born in San Diego, Calif., to Frank and Ella Glazener.

Upon the death of his father when he was 3 years old, his mother moved back to Norman, Ark., where he grew up and later graduated from Mount Ida High School. Gene attended Henderson State University, where he played varsity basketball. He coached in public schools, served as Company A commander in the 489th Army Engineers, Job Corps Center director, department head at Hot Springs Rehab Center and retired as superinten­dent of the Jessievill­e Public School System and served on the Garland County Equalizati­on Board.

Predecease­d by his parents, one brother, Ralph Glazener, and his beloved wife of 47 years, Yuvona Bradshaw Glazener, and son, Eric Glazener.

Survivors include one daughter, Cindy (Dennis) Bean, of Jessievill­e, Ark.; three grandsons, Brian (Amanda) Bean, Rusty (Christy) Bean and Trent Bean, of Jessievill­e, Ark.; three great-granddaugh­ters, Bailey, Abbi and Adalynn Bean; and one dear friend, Louie Dean Stanley, of Mount Ida, Ark.

Visitation will be held 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Caruth Village Funeral Home in Hot Springs Village, Ark.

Services will be held at 3 p.m. Friday at Jessievill­e Church of God with the Rev. Larry McNeely and the Rev. Jimmie Scott officiatin­g with burial immediatel­y following at Shiloh Cemetery.

Pallbearer­s will be George Foshee, Don Phillips, Eddie Lamb, Cecil Goings, Brian Bean, Rusty Bean and Trent Bean.
