Daniel J. Meyerpeter, age

71, of Hot Springs, died Thursday, May 10, 2018.

He was born on Jan. 27,

1947, in Omaha, Neb., the son of William Robert Meyerpeter and Bonnee Steinhause­r Meyerpeter. On June 24, 1967, he married Nona Cain. After traveling with the Mid-West Thoroughbr­ed horse racing circuit as a farrier for 10 years, they settled in Hot Springs, where he was the owner/operator of Bull Bayou Marina for over

40 years, making many great friends along the way. He was a very loving and devoted husband, father and grandfathe­r, as well as a pretty darn good fisherman. He will forever be in our hearts.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Gerald Meyerpeter; and one sister, Kathleen Meyerpeter.

Daniel was a Catholic in faith.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Nona Meyerpeter, of Hot Springs; four daughters and two sons-in-law, Lisa and Dennis Huggs, of Hot Springs, Shelly Caldwell, of Wister, Okla., and Jennifer and Eric Singleton and Jami Meyerpeter, all of Hot Springs; six grandchild­ren, Kyle Godwin and Chelcie Maughan, of Hot Springs, Kymberlea Godwin and Greg Griffin, of Royal, Stephen Smith of Wister, Okla., and Daniel Meyerpeter, Liam Singleton and Emma Singleton, all of Hot Springs; four great-grandchild­ren, Kycie Godwin and Kam Godwin, of Hot Springs, and Laney and Gage Griffin, of Royal; as well as many nieces, nephews and a host of wonderful friends.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, May

26, 2018, in the Davis-Smith Funeral Home chapel, Hot Springs, with Deacon Robert Wanless officiatin­g.
