Donnie E. Spencer, 75, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday May 20, 2018, at his home in Hot Springs, Ark. He was born in Fayettevil­le, Ark., to Wayne and Jannelle Spencer on April 24, 1943. He was a beloved husband of 37 years to Linda Sue Duff Spencer. Loving father of Kelli Marie Spencer and Donnie E. Spencer II.

Don is receiving full military honors due to his service to our country as an EOD staff sergeant of the United States Air Force serving in Vietnam until 1969, when he was awarded multiple service medals including a Purple Heart, the Silver Star Medal, Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Air Force Commendati­on Medal, Efficiency Honor, Vietnam Service Medal and Vietnam Campaign Medal. He attended the University of Arkansas at Fayettevil­le and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Teaching. He was a teacher at Fountain Lake School and sold insurance in Arkansas. He then married and moved to Texas, where he worked for the State of Texas Fraud Division until 1990, when he moved back to Hot Springs, Ark., where he began his retirement. Don had a strong passion for learning, reading and keeping busy and during his retirement, he was a notary public.

Donnie is preceded in death by his father and mother; three siblings, Donna Murray, Terrance (Terry) Spencer, Janie Henry; and a stepson, Bryon Keith Duff.

Survivors include his wife, Linda Spencer; children, Kelli Spencer, Donnie and Amber Spencer II; three grandchild­ren, Braylin Spencer, Zachary Smith, Oakley Spencer; and a brother, Steve and Donna Spencer.

Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Friday at Caruth-Hale Funeral Home, Hot Springs, Ark.

Celebratio­n of life will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Caruth-Hale Funeral Home with Pastor Tony Essner, of Church of Christ, officiatin­g.
