HS Tech Learning Center announces June schedule

The June schedule for classes presented by HS Tech Learning Center has been confirmed.

Windows 10 Basics classes will be offered from 1-3 p.m. June 4, 11, 18, 25. A home computer is not required to enroll, however, having a computer is highly recommende­d as it will enhance one’s ability to practice the skills learned in the classroom. Topics to be covered include parts of the computer, review of mouse usage, turn computer on/off, taskbar, start menu, desktop icons. WordPad will be used to give the student basics of word processing: tabs/ groups, cut/paste/copy, formatting, backspace/delete, selecting text, printing, save/save as. Introducti­on to internet and email will be included.

Windows 10 Level 1 will be held from 1-3 p.m. June 7, 14,

21, 28. This course is a pre-requisite to all advanced Windows courses offered. Students should have a proficienc­y of the keyboard, mouse skills and reasonable computer knowledge. Students will learn how to navigate through Windows

10, use of tiles, how to change basic settings, use File Explorer to organize files and folders; use flash drives. The new Microsoft Edge browser will be covered. Email choices available in Windows 10 will be discussed. Pre-requisite: Windows

10 Basics.

A File Management Workshop will be held from 10 a.m. to noon June 7 to introduce basic ways to set up, organize and manage files on the computer. It is appropriat­e for users of all Windows systems. This is a hands-on workshop and students will use the Windows 10 operating system.

Managing Photos will be held from 10 a.m. to noon June

11 and 12. This workshop will address how to transfer pictures from the camera to the computer, how to organize the pictures into folders and how to back up the pictures to a flash drive. This is a hands-on workshop and students will use the Windows 10 operating system.

The How to Use Flash Drives Workshop will be offered from

1-3 p.m. June 13. It will cover installing flash drives, identifyin­g flash drives, loading informatio­n and photos, using informatio­n stored on flash drives and safe removal from computer.

Creating a Photo Calendar will be held from 10 a.m. to noon June 18 and 19. Students will create a monthly photo calendar that can be a family gift and learn how to publish the calendar.

Internet Workshop (Internet Tips from Happy Clicking) will be held from 2-4 p.m. June 19. Students will receive an overview of the internet and how to navigate on the web securely, and an introducti­on to features of Google. They will learn how to download programs, photos and files from the internet. In this course, the instructor includes a number of tips and tricks, as well as how to download and personaliz­e pages from the web. Students will learn how to access useful and informativ­e websites.

An Android Phone Workshop will be held from 10 a.m. to noon June 20. It will cover how to use features on Android phones, including accessing the internet and email, installing apps, using the camera, sending pictures from the camera, using calendar, alarm clock, how to connect to WiFi networks. Students should bring their own Android phone.

An iPhone Workshop will be held from 10 a.m. to noon June 28. It will cover how to use features on the iPhone, including accessing the internet and email, installing apps, using the camera, sending pictures from the camera, using calendar, alarm clock, how to connect to WiFi networks. Students should bring their own iPhone.
