- REBEKAH HEDGES

A Hot Springs woman and a Pearcy man were arrested on felony warrants Tuesday for the alleged battery of the woman’s stepfather in early May.

Taleena Renee Mixon, 38, of 209 Poppy St., was taken into custody at her home at around

10:30 a.m. Tuesday and charged with second-degree battery, punishable by up to 10 years in prison.

David Rhoda, 63, who lists a Pearcy address, was taken into custody at the Walmart Neighborhood Market, 1544 Malvern Ave., around 10 a.m. Tuesday and charged with second-degree battery, punishable by up to six years.

Mixon was later released on $3,500 bond and Rhoda was later released on $2,500 bond. Both are set to appear June 11 in Garland County District Court.

Tony Ray Talley, 46, was arrested May 7 in connection with the same incident and charged with second-degree domestic battery, punishable by up to 10 years in prison, and later released on

$3,500 bond. Talley reportedly failed to appear for a hearing in Garland County District Court May

21 and a warrant was issued for his arrest. He was arrested Wednesday on the warrant and was set to appear later that day in district court.

According to the probable cause affidavit, on May 1, a Jessieville man, 65, filed a report with the Garland County Sheriff’s Department stating his stepdaughter, identified as Mixon, and his brother-in-law, identified as Talley, came to his residence on Talley Road along with an unknown white male, later identified as Rhoda.

He said Mixon came to the door and he told her she could not be there because his wife,

56, had told him she didn’t want her there. He said Mixon went in the house anyway and he tried to keep Talley from going in.

He told Investigator Brandon Huckaba he was pulled out of the doorway by Talley and

Rhoda and they began to punch him in the head and put him in a chokehold.

He said Talley threatened him saying, “We coming to kill you (expletive).” Mixon reportedly came out from the residence and began punching him until his wife was able to pull her off him.

Huckaba interviewed the wife, who said Mixon came into the residence where she and her 76-year-old mother were and told her, “You just got your boyfriend killed,” referring to her husband.

She said she ran out to the porch and saw her husband being held by two men while Mixon was punching him until she was able to pull her off. She said she and Mixon then engaged in an altercation.

Deputy Aaron Bowerman took photos of the man’s injuries including a swollen right eye, cuts on his left arm and bruises on his back. Orders of protection barring Talley or Mixon from having any contact with the victim or his wife were issued on May 7.
