John D. Carter, age 62, of Hot Springs, died Saturday, May 26, 2018.

He was born on March 14, 1956, in Brinkley, the son of Roland L. Carter and Audrey Black Carter. He was preceded in death by his father, R.L. “Bill” Carter.

John was Christian in his faith and a graduate of Stuttgart High School. He owned and operated Arrowhead Cabin and Canoe in Caddo Gap, Ark., he retired in 2011. He loved to canoe and he was an avid fisherman. His greatest pleasure was spending time with his family and friends and he will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

John is survived by his mother, Audrey Carter, of Hot Springs; his two sons and one daughter-in-law, Gabe and Angie Carter and Tyler Carter, all of Springdale; his daughter, Leah Foster, of Hot Springs; his two grandsons, Gavin Mayhew and Austin Mayhew; his sister, Felecia Swint, of Hot Springs; his niece, Audrey Sheets, of Hot Springs; his nephew William “Bill” Swint, of Corning; and a host of wonderful friends.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 2, 2018, in the Hot Springs Baptist Church with Dr. Terry D. Carter and Grady Parker officiatin­g.

Honorary pallbearer­s will be Tim Arnold, Monty Stone, Garland Baker, Don Williams, Dave Welch, Mike Broderick, Tracy Ward, Mike Howard and Tommy Ferguson.

Posthumous pallbearer­s are Philip Ward, Jeff Goslee, Rod Strickland, Charles Swint and Robyn Casteel.

Arrangemen­ts are under the direction of Davis-Smith Funeral Home, Hot Springs.
