A Hot Springs Village man was arrested late Tuesday after allegedly grabbing and pushing his wife.

Jacob August Schoedinger, 79, of 103 Castano Drive, was taken into custody at his home shortly before 10:30 p.m. and charged with second-degree domestic battery, a felony punishable by up to 10 years.

The charge is a felony because the alleged victim is more than 60 years old.

Schoedinger was being held on zero bond and appeared Wednesday in Garland County District Court.

According to the probable cause affidavit, Hot Springs Village Police Officer Susan Musler arrived at the Castano Drive address in reference to a disturbance.

Upon arrival, she made contact with a woman who said her husband, Schoedinger, became angry with her because she wanted to shut the garage door.

The woman told Musler that her husband often grabs her arms to hold her and that he grabbed her wrist to keep her from closing the garage door.

She said he pushed her in the chest causing her to fall to the floor near the kitchen.

The officer observed red marks on the woman’s wrist and a scratch mark on her chest and noted she was “visibly shaken.” She said she and her husband had been drinking and she believed he would harm her again “just to show that he has dominance over her.”
