Marion Warner
Marion Warner, age 87, quietly passed on Tuesday, June 5, 2018, at Arkansas Hospice River Valley Home in Russellville, Ark.
Marion was born in Lee Township, Allegan County, Mich., on Oct. 6, 1930. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Mildred Tyler; a sister, Bernice Warner; three brothers, Alvin, John and Robert Tyler; and her husband, Howard L. Warner Sr.
She is survived by a sister, Sharon Heckman; a brother, Melvin Tyler; two children, Howard L. Warner Jr., of Romeo, Mich., and Patricia (Patti) Warner Nickels, of Russellville, Ark.; two granddaughters, Christy North of Fayetteville, Ark., and Katie Harris, of Paris, Ark.; and two grandsons, Brian Warner and Jon Warner, of Harrison; as well as 10 great-grandchildren and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. Having her grandchildren and their children around was a special joy for her.
Marion grew up in Michigan but came to Hot Springs with her husband in 1948 as newlyweds on the way west. They immediately fell in love with the spa city and decided to go no further. She made it her home for 67 years. They soon found a church home at the Hot Springs First Christian Church. After her children were grown and moving to the west side of town, she and her husband transferred to the National Park Christian Church.
Marion made a career in nursing, first working for Dr. William A. Goodrum at his office in the Medical Arts building and then as an LPN in the intensive care unit at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Hot Springs. She loved nursing and was very good with patients and her co-workers. After she retired, she volunteered with hospice in Hot Springs. She also had a special love for music and played the piano and organ almost every day. She especially liked ragtime music to the delight of everyone that heard her play. She passed on her love for music as a special gift to her daughter and granddaughters. She loved to travel during her early years and visited most of the states, as well as several countries in Europe.
