Hot Springs Farmers & Artisans Market announces Uptown Market
The Hot Springs Farmers & Artisans Market recently announced the addition of the Uptown Market at 910 Park Ave. as a trial market expansion.
“The Growing Healthy Communities Initiative mapped Hot Springs and identified communities with food insecurity. Addressing the ‘food desert’ in the Park Avenue area has long been an initiative goal,” Jean Wallace, director of the Hot Springs Parks and Trails Department and Growing Healthy Communities Walkability chairwoman, said in a news release.
The Uptown Market will be open beginning June 25 on Mondays from 4-7 p.m. “The 910 Park Avenue Food Court is easily accessible by walking, cycling and car. Our mission at 910 is to bring high quality, sustainably grown foods to the community, whether it is via our food trucks or our vendors. We think this partnership accomplishes both organizations’ missions and are excited to make the vision a reality,” said Elaine Nesmith, 910 Park Avenue Food Court owner and former Growing Healthy Communities Nutrition Education chairwoman.
Due to limited space, the Uptown Market will only accommodate locally grown or produced foods, since the primary goal is to increase access to healthful foods for the community.

The Historic Downtown Farmers & Artisans Market at 121 Orange St. is a year-round market open from 4-7 p.m. Tuesdays and 7 a.m. to noon Saturdays from May to October and 9 a.m. to noon Saturdays from November to April.
