MALVERN — William S. “Hoyle” Hughes, age 87, of Malvern, died Thursday, June

14, 2018, at his home.

He was born on Nov. 6,

1930, in the Midway Community near Donaldson, to the late Elmo Hughes and Mary McKinley Hughes. He was reared and educated in Malvern. Mr. Hughes served in the United States Air Force for over nine years. He was the owner of Hughes Oil Company, and consignee for Sunray DX for 39 years. Mr. Hughes was a member of First Baptist Church. He loved to fish and to work in his yard.

He is survived by his wife, Dianne Hill Hughes, to whom he was married on Dec. 17,

1955, at First Baptist Church; his daughter, Jennifer Thompson and her husband, Mike, of Hot Springs; his son, Bill Hughes and his wife, Lyn, of Phoenix; two sisters, Libbey H. Talley, of Colorado, and Louise H. Smith, of Shreveport; a brother, Harold Hughes and his wife, Janice, of Magnolia; five grandchild­ren, Austin (Katie) Treadway, of Hot Springs, Hayden Hughes and Kenton Hughes, both of Phoenix, Courtney Thompson, of Little Rock, and Allie Thompson, of Hot Springs.

Mr. Hughes was also preceded in death by a great-grandson, Matthew Treadway.

The family will receive friends at J.A. Funk Funeral Home beginning at 3 p.m. today, June 16, 2018, and will process to Oak Ridge Cemetery for a graveside service beginning at 4 p.m. Brother Manley Beasley will officiate at the service, assisted by Becky Morrison as vocalist.

Memorials are requested to Arkansas Children’s Hospital in Little Rock.
