Joanna S. Williams
HOT SPRINGS VILLAGE — Joanna S. Williams, of Hot Springs Village, passed away June 9, 2018, at the age of 83. Joanna was born Feb. 8, 1935, in Clarksville, Ark. She married while in college, divorcing 20 years later and setting out to raise five children.
Joanna was trained as a draftsman and engineer’s technician and began working for Cooper Communities at Hot Springs Village in 1971. In 1973, she moved to the POA and retired as director of Parks and Recreation in 2000.
Joanna had a passion for storytelling and was sometimes referred to unofficially as the Village historian. Not only was she a collector of vintage hats, she also wore many hats in her long, fruitful life. She will be remembered for her grace as much as her grit and determination.
Joanna was preceded in death by three sons, Fred, Ted and Bill Williams.
She is survived by two daughters, Ginger and Karen Williams; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
The family offers a special thanks to Arkansas Hospice and Yolanda Jones.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the HSV Animal Welfare League.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 21, at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church in Hot Springs Village.
