ASMSA grad named Bodenhamer Fellow
FAYETTEVILLE — Sabrina Jones, a graduate of the Arkansas School for Mathematics, Sciences, and the Arts, was recently selected as one of six incoming freshman to receive the Bodenhamer Fellowship from the University of Arkansas Honors College.
According to a news release from the university, the Bodenhamer Fellowship is one of the most prestigious scholarships offered to undergraduates, awarding each student $70,000 over the course of their education.
Jones, of Russellville, scored a 36 on her ACT and is a National Hispanic Scholar as well as a National Merit Finalist, receiving awards for top grades in mathematics, Spanish and physics. She plans to major in physics.
According to the release, she has already completed college-level research through her work with the Cancer Institute at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, where she worked on metabolic implications in tumor formations. Jones served as president of her school’s Beta Club and president of the National Honors Society as well as the Policy Committee chair of the Student Government Association.
“It is always an honor for our colleagues at the University of Arkansas to recognize both the caliber and dynamism of ASMSA graduates,” said Corey Alderdice, director of ASMSA. “We are proud to count Sabrina among the many ASMSA alumni and even faculty who have been named a Bodenhamer Fellow. Fellowships such as these are more than just financial investments in students. They are a springboard to incredible opportunities that will build on Sabrina’s time at ASMSA and continue to cultivate her abilities as a promising scholar.”
