ROYAL — Jan Fendley, age 73, of Royal, passed away on Friday, June 15, 2018.

Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. today, June 19, 2018, in the Davis-Smith Funeral Home chapel, Hot Springs.

Adgie R. Hughes

BISMARCK — Adgie Ruth Hughes, 83, of Bismarck, Ark., passed away peacefully at home on June 16, 2018.

She was born Feb. 12, 1935, to the late Jasper and Blanche Feazell Lambert. Adgie was the owner of Ship and Shore liquor in Hot Springs.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Conrad Lee “C.L.” Hughes; her son, Carlton Lewis Hughes; and her brother, Jerry Lambert.

She is survived by her sons, Rocklyn Lynn Hughes, Alan Bruce Hughes (Monica) and Mark Wayne Hughes (Alana); nine grandchild­ren; 17 great-grandchild­ren; brother, Murl Lambert; and sisters, Estene Marable (Jimmy), Linda Smith (Morgan) and Bennie Lambert.

A visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today, June 19, 2018, at Ruggles-Wilcox Funeral Home.

A funeral will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 20, 2018, at the funeral home, followed by burial at DeRoche Cemetery.

Mary A. Mitchell

Mary Alice Mitchell, 90, of Hot Springs, passed on Sunday, June 17, 2018.

She was born on Aug. 5, 1927, to the late Braxton Lanier Slater and Johnie Olive Slater in Junction City, Ark. While attending Hamburg High School, she was voted Miss Ashley County in 1944. Upon completion of high school, she moved to Hot Springs to attend the nursing program at St. Joseph Hospital. She retired from St. Joseph Mercy Medical Center in 1988 after 20 years of service as MT (ASCP). She was the past worthy matron of the Hot Springs National Park Chapter of the Eastern Star. For many years, she was active in the Rackensack Theater, the Hot Springs Choral Society and performed in the Marjorie Lawrence Opera Workshop. Her many interests included painting, poetry and writing.

She was predecease­d by both her husbands, Jack Harvey and William B. “Preach” Mitchell.

Survivors include her son, James Harvey; two daughters, Johnnie Lou Harvey and Mary Sue Finnie. The family would like to thank the emergency responders and the staff of St. Vincent’s for their kind and profession­al assistance to their mother.

Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. today at Hot Springs Funeral Home.

Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Crestview Memorial Park with the Rev. CB Baker officiatin­g.

In lieu of flowers, memorials have been designated to a charity of your choice.
