Voices Rising to present summer concert ‘When I Sing’
HOT SPRINGS VILLAGE — Village ensemble Voices Rising will present its summer concert “When I Sing” at 3 p.m. July 8 in the Balboa Baptist Church Outreach Center, 415 Ponce De Leon Drive.
The ensemble will share Broadway, patriotic, spiritual, classical, and “just plain fun” songs.
With packed houses for past concerts, Voices Rising has moved its venue to the larger Balboa Baptist Outreach Center. There is no charge for tickets but donations will be accepted.
Joining Voices Rising will be Kathy Ogilvie on violin and Lee Ann Branch on drums. Ruth Clemens will be the guest accompanist for the concert. Two featured soloists and professionally trained singers, Marc Bremer and Ruth’e Korelitz, will share well-known songs including Bremer’s “I Dreamed a Dream” from “Les Miserables” and Korelitz’s “Vilja’s Song” from “The Merry Widow.” The audience will also enjoy Voices Rising’s rendition of “I Could Have Danced All Night.”
The group specializes in a cappella numbers and will harmonize during such songs as “I Hear a Voice a Praying” and “My Lord’s in the Mountain.”
Directed by Fran Stroud, this is the third season for this group. Email Janis Bremer at bremerj1978@gmail.com for more information about sponsorship.
