A Plainview man and previously convicted felon was arrested during a traffic stop Monday after Garland County Sheriff’s deputies allegedly found him in possession of a firearm and marijuana.

Harold Wayne Davis, 52, was taken into custody around 1:30 p.m. and charged with felony counts of simultaneous possession of drugs and firearms, punishable by up to life in prison, possession of marijuana with purpose to deliver and two counts of possession of drug paraphernalia, each punishable by up to six years.

Davis remained in custody Tuesday on zero bond and is set to appear today in Garland County District Court.

According to the probable cause affidavit, Deputies Elwood McConnell and Tyler Wagner were traveling westbound on Old Dove Road when they observed a blue pickup truåck with a cracked windshield.

An ID check of the vehicle’s plates revealed them to be fictitious so the deputies made a traffic stop and made contact with the driver, identified as Davis. A computer check revealed he had two outstanding warrants from Perry and Garland

County.

While being placed into custody, Davis told deputies he had a loaded firearm in his right front pocket.

Deputies located a loaded .22 caliber pistol and an extra round in his other front pocket.

During a search of the vehicle, deputies allegedly located a black bag in the bed of the truck with four small containers holding 39.5 grams of what later tested positive for marijuana. Also in the vehicle were two glass pipes reportedly used for smoking meth.
