HSV Rotary welcomes new officers
With each Rotary year beginning on July 1, a new president and board of directors take office. This year, the gavel is passed by Outgoing President Steve Wright to Incoming President Lori McMinn, who will serve during 2018-19. Other officers for the coming year include President-elect John Weidert and Treasurer Harv Shelton, with Michele Staples taking on double duty as club secretary and bulletin editor.
Members of the HSV Rotary Board direct the club’s areas of service. These include Gary Jacobs leading the grants program, Phyllis Johannsen as membership chair, Bob Sweeten in charge of club service, and fundraising chair Lydia McCarthy. Other officers include Paul Bridges in charge of Service Projects, Grover Scarborough heading up the Rotary Foundation, Jerry Sorenson in the public relations position and Tony Booth directing the Charity Corporation. Larry Wilson serves the club as webmaster and provides technical support during each meeting.
A special honor for the club this year is that for the first time, a member of HSV Rotary will serve as the district governor. Villager Dennis Cooper will preside over District 6170, which includes Arkadelphia, Benton/ Bauxite, Bryant, Camden, Conway, El Dorado, Hot Springs, Magnolia, Monticello, Pine Bluff and Russellville.
Rotary membership is open to all men and women, with guests welcome at the Hot Springs Village club which meets weekly in the Fireside Dining Room at Good Sam’s, 121 Cortez Road, at 7 a.m. Thursdays.
