ARTS, ETC.: Cutwell 4 Kids to host fundraiser

-

Cutwell 4 Kids will host its fifth annual fundraiser, The Birth of an Artist, from 7-10 p.m. Aug. 11 at Emergent Arts, 341 Whittington Ave.

In addition to displayed artwork from emerging community artists, the event will feature musical talent in areas of jazz and R&B and an art sale featuring visual artist Ayana Williams from the University of Central Arkansas. Live entertainment will be provided by The Youth Jazz Band, RockTown Jazz Squad and artist Madison Love. Light hors d’oeuvres will be served.

C4K is a nonprofit organization for children of all ages that provides a hands-on art program allowing children to do what they do naturally — play — while gaining valuable learning skills, a news release said. The organization’s youth-friendly environment is designed especially for youths who are highly active and allows them to express themselves freely with paint.

“We are dedicated to providing a positive atmosphere for kids to express themselves with paint and that’s exactly what we do,” said Anthony Tidwell, artist and founder.

New students are currently being accepted; space is limited. Each Saturday, May through July, kids meet at Emergent Arts to refine their art skills free of charge.

Tickets to the event are $20; donations will be accepted. Children 17 years of age and younger will be admitted for free. Proceeds will help C4K continue its mission in the community.
