Fresh produce returns Saturday at farmers market

-

The Hot Springs Farmers & Artisans Market, 121 Orange St., will be open from 7 a.m. to noon Saturday.

The Farmer of the Week, Charlie Joe Farmstead, is known at the market for its pasture-raised chicken and grass finished beef. Free-range chicken eggs are available. Chad Olszewski says that the chickens are moved from one location to another, which keeps the area clean and adds nitrogen to the soil. Olszewski and his wife, Abbey, also make handmade soap. Each bar is coconut oil-based, with essential oils. Choices range from lavender vanilla, oatmeal milk and honey, gardenia, honeysuckle, citrus and mint, and soap shavings. Soap socks are also available. Charlie Joe Farmstead also grows cucumbers, peppers and tomatoes.

The Vendor of the Week, Wendy Fargo of Crooked House Herbals, is a master herbalist with a varied homemade selection.
