The Sentinel-Record

Senior center flip/flop

-

Dear editor:

Seniors in Hot Springs lose another helping hand with the closing of the Senior Center since early spring 2018.

After reading the article in The Sentinel-Record (front page on July 18, 2018), it cries out with mismanagement and lack of coordination by the city government, county government and The Area Agency on Aging, etc.

In an earlier article that appeared in The Sentinel-Record, it was stated that a temporary place would be provided for the Senior Center until a permanent place could be found and said they would relate this information to the seniors. However, nothing has been heard about this since!

With the existing building now being handled by Garland County and with the existing Senior Center building in apparent poor condition, is this another Majestic Hotel adventure by lawyers, AHPP and Garland County?

It seems more reasonable to not consider the present Senior Center location and find a temporary place until a new building (place) can be found for the Hot Springs Senior Center.

Unless Hot Springs seniors want to travel to the Hot Springs Village Senior Center location, I am afraid under present plans by Garland County, etc., we have a long, long wait for a Senior Center in Hot Springs. Carson J. Albert Hot Springs
