A Hot Springs man was arrested Monday after allegedly grabbing his wife and shoving her to the ground.

Joshoa Antwon Howell, 29, who lists a Brookstone Street address, was taken into custody around 6:30 p.m. Monday and charged with third-degree domestic battering, a misdemeanor punishable by up to one year in jail.

Howell remained in custody Tuesday on zero bond and is set to appear today in Garland County Court.

According to the probable cause affidavit, Garland County sheriff’s Deputy Richard Garrett was dispatched to a residence in the 100 block of Tradewinds Place in reference to a disturbance.

A woman at the residence said she and Howell, her husband, were separated and she was living with her parents, along with her children. She said Howell came to her parents’ house unannounced and they began arguing and he took her two cellphones. She said she grabbed him by the collar in an attempt to get her phones back when he allegedly grabbed her and shoved her to the ground.

She reportedly had injuries to her back and shoulder from the incident. LifeNet responded to the scene and the woman was examined by paramedics, but she reportedly declined medical treatment.

Howell was reportedly not on the scene when Garrett arrived but returned while he was still there and was taken into custody without incident. Garrett noted Howell had a small scratch on his neck apparently caused by his wife grabbing him.
