Trump misinformation

-

Dear editor:

In a July 21 letter by Judy Ladd, she states President Trump should be blamed for not doing anything about Russian meddling in the 2016 election after he was informed about it shortly before he was sworn in. First off, he has, but I’ll get to that in a moment.

Now what Ms. Ladd failed to mention, either due to ignorance or it not fitting her anti-Trump agenda, is that the Obama administration was aware of the Russian efforts several months before the election and did nothing. In fact, Michael Daniel, White House cybersecurity coordinator, was told by then National Security adviser Susan Rice to stand down and do nothing. To try and blame Trump, yet not even mention Obama’s lack of action is hypocrisy at its best.

Concerning her saying Trump has done nothing, again not true. He has been tougher on Russia with sanctions than any other recent president. While he did misspeak at the recent summit, he has since corrected himself and now admits Russia was involved in meddling during the 2016 election.

She spreads more misinformation, by saying the Trump “witch hunt” comments were aimed at the Russia meddling/hacking investigation, again, not true. The “witch hunt” comment was aimed at the efforts to try to find any collusion between his campaign and Russia, of which no evidence has been found.

If she wants someone to be investigated for treason, perhaps Trump’s predecessor might qualify. The rest of her letter was just standard anti-Trump nonsense which is not worthy of further comment.
