Johnnie M. Brizendine
Johnnie Mae Brizendine, 92, of Hot Springs, Ark., went to be with the Lord Aug. 3, 2018. She was born in Hollis, Arkansas to Selma and Louis Magie.
Johnnie is preceded in death by her loving husband of almost
68 years, Arnold Brizendine; great-grandson Lukas Cotton; and four siblings.
Loving survivors include her three children, Darmon Brizendine of Hot Springs, Brenda Gibson (John Paul) of Lake Jackson, Texas, and Kathy Cotton (Tom) of Euless, Texas; six grandchildren, Jonathan Brizendine (Missa), Suzanne Brizendine, Joshua Cotton (Melanie), Joseph Cotton (Georgia), John Louis Gibson (Katie), and Rebekah Maynor (Cory); nine great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
Johnnie was known as “Nana” to all her family. She dearly loved all her grandchildren and looked forward to each and every visit with them. In her earlier years, she was very active in her church, primarily working with women’s ministries. She was always there to help with mission fundraising, visitations and special events. She considered prayer and Bible reading a vital part of her day. She enjoyed sewing, especially making clothes for her daughters. Her love for animals showed in how great of care she took of her little ones through the years.
A visitation will be held from
1-2 p.m. Wednesday at Caruth-Hale Funeral Home, with the service starting at 2 p.m. Burial will follow at Crestview Cemetery.
Pallbearers include Jonathan, Alex, Dylan and Devin Brizendine, and Joshua and Joseph Cotton. Honorary pallbearers include John Louise Gibson, Albert Hahm, Jimmie Kidd and Danny Griffith.
